En Fundonal contamos con un espacio científico para el estudio de pacientes con glaucoma, integrado por un equipo de especialistas que están altamente comprometidos para brindar una solución efectiva a través de un tratamiento rápido y oportuno. Aunque la pérdida de visión causada por el glaucoma es irreversible, es importante tener presente que si se detecta a tiempo atendiendo las indicaciones médicas y se hace el respectivo seguimiento periódico es posible conservar la visión a través de medicamentos y/o cirugía.
Se trata de una afección que puede desarrollarse en personas de todas las edades, desde los bebés hasta adultos mayores; sin embargo, hay quienes tienen un mayor riesgo de padecer esta enfermedad como por ejemplo: mayores de 60 años, individuos con familiares que presentan antecedentes de glaucoma, diabetes o con presión intraocular elevada, miopes, usuarios de corticosteroides, personas de raza negra y pacientes con antecedentes de cirugía en los ojos.
